I prefer seeing the OK come up when I start mine.

If only the wiper fluid one was animated!
There's nothing LESS distracting than a brightly-colored, animated display directly in your line if sight alerting you to something of absolutely no consequence.
Source: I haz one.

what is yours on, 5K? I think my 88 90q has the animated washer fluid

Ah, no, mine is much newer. B6 A4. Still recognized every single one of those warnings though, haha.

Here it is in action just this morning!

This brings me back. I remember having fun with the auto check in my 97 A6 Avant.

Place Foot On Brake Before Selecting Gear....OK!
Combined with the little "Foot-on-Brake" diagram next to the gear selector. B/c how else would I know what a foot is, let alone a brake?!

not on your 20V is it? that isnt an automatic, cant be
![]() 01/07/2014 at 16:30 |

They have that? I drive a manual, so I wouldn't know, but it's surprising that something that obvious would show up on the little display in an automatic.

you nailed every one

Wait, it's not for bombs? I thought it was for the "bomb" or hydraulic pressure accumulator, which actually does look similar to this. I suppose that's probably a bit specific for the display though, haha. That and I've had issues with mine and this never popped up.
Probably wouldn't have guessed it was for a bulb either way, lol.

Yep. It even lights up when your foot is off the brake, and goes off when you put your foot on it. Simultaneously patronizing and adorable. Pictured here:

Yours isn't animated? My s4 is perpetually out of washer fluid and mine is animated

Weird/annoying. I'm impressed they've kept the same little display after all these years. Mine is a '91.

ahhh ok now it all makes sense. Only autos up till the c4 100's were front drivers!

Bit of confusion.
Mine IS animated, but OP's image is not. Doesn't show the "volcano erupting," so to speak.

No bombs!
Mine permanently has the headlight light on, apparently due to a European headlight swap. I then went in a friend's B7 Avant, which I then learned also prohibited bombs. Must be an Audi thing.

hmm I thought the audi system worked on the balance between the 2 lamps like the Volvo, so as long as your headlights match, should be good. Guess not!
